The Derived Return functionality allows entitled users to access incoming ACH data and effect automated returns and/or Notifications of Return (depending on the Type) from the transactions within the Incoming ACH Batches. Access may be gained to the Incoming ACH Transaction Search in either of two ways.
By clicking on the record that represents the item to be returned, and selecting the View Highlighted Row option from the Incoming ACH Summary page, the entitled user will be routed to the Incoming ACH Transaction Search page. The summary on the search page reflects the batch information related to the selected transaction, and the table displays all transactions for that batch.
NOTE: By default, all batches and
their associated transactions are listed in the summary. Use
the filter options Distribution, Type, Status to refine the data listed.
Additionally, click
to do a search on the data listed. Enter
a string (i.e. part of a name, account number, etc.) to locate matches
in the table.
OR
Choose the Incoming ACH Transaction Search tab and display the Incoming ACH Transactions Search Page. By default, the transactions listed in the listing are those that have been downloaded today. The ability to filter and search the table listing as described above is also available for the Transaction Search page.
Complete the following steps once the transaction to be returned has been identified.
Click on the transaction to be returned to highlight it.
The
actions that can be taken on a transaction depends on the status of the
batch in which the transactions are contained, and the status and type
of transaction highlighted. For example:

the Create NOC option is chosen, the NOC page is displayed.
If the transaction is a Return item, the Dishonored Return page displays.

all selected transactions have been processed.
If a transaction in the series is not to be returned, click the Skip
button to proceed to the next transaction in the queue.
Click Submit to continue the Return process. The Confirmation Derived Return screen is presented.
Click to complete the Return process. Click
to quit and return to the previous page, without submitting the Return.

Cutoff times for submitting Return transactions are controlled by the financial institution. If submitting a Return after the cutoff, the Effective Entry Date will be set for +1 days after today's date, and the item will be queued for processing on the next business day.
